I am in the fortunate position to have just returned from a 10 day visit to Mauritius to set up a new business over there. Actually by the time we came back we had set up another business which is what spending time on a beautiful island like Maurtius does for you. We went over there to start an IT business and we have employed a great local guy, Yves Ramlioll, to grow the business there and into Seychelles, Madagascar, a few smaller islands and further down the line Sub Saharan Africa. If anyone reading this is thinking about getting into growth markets I would thoroughly recommend venturing out and meeting other business people from these up and coming markets. What we found really refreshing was that it was relaxing doing business and that we made a large number of contacts both from growth and mature markets and that most importantly it allowed us to really think laterally and come up with loads of ideas of how to innovate in our businesses and to develop new ones. The additional business we are setting up is: Business Holidays Indian Ocean Islands Ltd the aim of which is to connect Business Leaders (for the first event from the ICT Industry) for a 3 day conference/networking event at the following hotel: http://tinyurl.com/yd55yjg The first event is planned for November 3rd and will shortly be sending out invites to C Level Execs from both mature and growing markets. The opportunities are enormous and we believe that those attending will come back from this event as enthusiastic as we are all from our "business holiday" in Mauritius last week. |
